Historic Richmond Town was founded as the Staten Island Historical Society in 1856. The mission is to create opportunities for the public to explore the diversity of the American experience, especially that of Staten Island and its neighboring communities from the colonial period to the present. It's a remarkable living history town and museum complex with four sites. Not being fixed to a specific time period, famous event or person makes us unique in that we can interpret the rich, diverse cultural tapestry of American life at any point in our history. Through re-created environments, "living history" demonstrations, permanent and changing gallery exhibitions, and special celebrations it chronicles the growth of a new world settlement into a big city suburb – in many ways a microcosm of American life.

Historical Interpreter - Spring

Each spring, Historic Richmond Town hires a handful of folks to join the historical interpreter team.  In this role you would facilitate hands-on, discovery-based learning across educational and interpretive programming. Historical interpreters are responsible for connecting visitors to the histories of Staten Island. They teach programs that are interdisciplinary, bringing together history, art, science and technology. Historical interpreters provide meaningful interpretation and impactful educational experiences to our community. This role has the unique privilege to expand narratives to include stories of underrepresented histories.
